I am a professional musician. By this I mean that my sole means of earning a living is by playing and teaching. I teach classical guitar at a college and play many recitals and events every year. I mention this because I want the reader to know that my cases see hard use. Eleven years ago I bought a fiberglass case because they are light, fairly strong and are fairly moisture-proof. This case has been all over the continental United States and back and forth to college every day during the terms. It has sustained its fair share of dings, but my guitars have always come through in perfect condition. This is NOT a flight case, but for car, bus or train travel it is ideal due to its light weight, small size and crush resistance. After ten years, the handle finally wore out and quit. I bought a replacement handle, but it failed after five months. The case had seen better days, the interior is worn and the outside is looking shabby. So, I looked at cases and decided on the Crossrock CRF1000CIV fiberglass classical guitar case as it seemed to most closely replicate the case I had been using. The Crossrock shell is thicker and less flexible than the case I used successfully for such a long time. I feel that it will last equally well in daily use. The interior is far plusher than that of the case it replaces and is very aesthetically pleasing. The latches and hinges are on par with the old case and these have never failed. The handle seems much stronger. The cover closes tight and without any issues. One reviewer mentioned that the hygrometer interferes with the guitar’s headstock and this I also found to be true. Another quarter inch of inset would remedy this. As it is, I place a cloth over the head and the case still closes okay. I guess I could remove it, but so far, so good.I will update as this case sees more service, but I truly and firmly believe this case is ideal for car transport, ATTENDED public transport, but I would not check it with the airlines. I have a Reuer case of 1970’s vintage for that. The Crossrock is a tight fit for my Hill Munich ’37 and a very nice fit for two of the three Eric Marczak guitars I own. I don’t think a Ramirez will fit. So my only caveat is that if your guitar runs to the larger size, check one somehow before purchasing. I recommend this case highly.
